What types of contracts do Virgin Media offer?
This varies by offer or bundle, but a fixed-term contract means you agree to have our services for 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months or 24 months (i.e. a minimum term or period).
If you leave us before your minimum term ends, you’ll be charged an Early Disconnection Fee for the remaining period of the agreed term.
Leaving us? You’ll need to give us 30 days’ notice if you want to cancel your services, unless you’re switching to another provider – in this case, you won’t need to give us notice.
Our 30-day rolling contracts are perfect for customers who are not looking for a long-term commitment. This could be because you’re renting or you’re on one of our student broadband deals.
So how does it work? When you join, you’ll pay a £45 flexi-fee which allows you to change or upgrade your Virgin Media services with just 30 days’ notice. The same notice period applies if you wish to leave.

When does my Virgin Media contract end?

Very little. Unless you’ve made changes to your Virgin Media package, your services will continue as they are. It’s just your monthly cost that may change – please see your end of contract notification to check this.
If you’re switching to another provider, you can find more details on this and any communications we’ve sent by going to My Virgin Media > Account settings > Provider switch.
Yes. Whether you’re reaching the end of your time with us, or you’re currently out of contract, you can easily renew online by signing in to My Virgin Media.
If you’re looking to cancel your Virgin Media services, please contact us to let us know you’re leaving.
Please be aware if you try to cancel your contract before the end of your minimum term, you will be charged an Early Disconnection Fee.
However, if you complete your minimum term in full and then decide to switch providers, there’s no need to get in touch.
An Early Disconnection Fee is a charge that we and other providers impose if you cancel your contract before the end of your minimum period (contract length). In other words, it’s where you pay for the remaining months on your agreement, as well as any other additional costs, like equipment.
You will only have to pay an Early Disconnection Fee if you decide to leave before the end of your fixed-term contract.
What happens to my contract when moving home?
First things first, see if our services are available at your new address – just enter your new postcode on our moving home page. If Virgin Media is unavailable at your new address, then you may be charged a fee depending on your contract type:
Fixed-term contract – if you move during your minimum period, you’ll have to pay an Early Disconnection Fee to close your account at your original address. Unless you’ve completed your contract length, in which case, you just need to give 30 days' notice to cancel your services.
30-day rolling contract – the flexibility that comes with a rolling contract means you only need to give 30 days’ notice to cancel your services.
How can I get more support with my contract?
If you’re at all unsatisfied with the information provided on this help page, feel free to make a complaint and we’ll get back to you.
