There’s a wonderful, and wonderfully eclectic, choice of movies premiering on Sky Cinema this month. British stars Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy lead the cast in 1960s-set drama The Bikeriders, while there’s another epic instalment in the Mad Max series in Furiosa, starring Anya Taylor-Joy. There’s plenty more besides – and if you’re looking for romantic movies for Valentine’s Day, Sky Cinema has you covered. Loved-up movies available include Bridget Jones’s Diary, Anyone But You, Crazy Rich Asians, My First Summer, Boy Meets Boy and more, including Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Available from Friday 31 January in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 15

Legendary action director George Miller follows Mad Max: Fury Road with another epic set in the dystopian future he created. Furiosa – Charlize Theron’s character from Fury Road – is abducted as a child by the Biker Horde, led by the crazed Dementus (Chris Hemsworth, Thor). As a young woman, now played by Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), Furiosa is forced to survive a series of trials as she attempts to find her way home. Thrilling sci-fi action on a grand scale.

I Saw The TV Glow

Available from Saturday 1 February in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 15

Critics adored this low-budget movie from writer/director Jane Schoenbrun, which is both an effective psychological horror and an insightful exploration of identity issues. Owen (Justice Smith) is trying to negotiate teenage life in the 1990s when his friend Maddy introduces him to a cult TV show, whose supernatural stories speak to them. The pair grow close – until Maddy disappears, leaving Owen lost and disoriented. Unique and compelling, with a brilliant soundtrack.

Chuck Chuck Baby

Available from Sunday 2 February in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 15

If you only see one romantic musical set in a Welsh chicken factory this year, make it this one. Helen (Louise Brealey, Such Brave Girls) is the worker whose sweet nature means almost everyone in her life takes advantage of her. But when her school friend Joanne (Annabel Scholey, The Split) returns to town, an unlikely love story begins. Bursting with charm, wit and great musical sequences.

The Bikeriders

Available from Friday 7 February in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 15

When Kathy (Jodie Comer, Killing Eve) meets biker Benny (Austin Butler, Elvis), their connection is instant and they’re soon married. The Vandals Motorcycle Club and its leader Johnny (Tom Hardy, Venom) are central to their lives – but just as 1960s America is changing around them, the club evolves from a haven for society’s outsiders to a world of violence. This drama, based on real events, is unpredictable and absorbing with a terrific cast that includes Michael Shannon and Challengers’ Mike Faist.

Turn Me On

Available from Saturday 8 February in Sky Cinema in demand. Cert U

What if you could take a pill that does away with all those messy feelings and lets you get on with life? That’s the basis of the futuristic world in this intriguing sci-fi fable, where everyone is disturbingly contented. But when Joy (Bel Powley, Everything I Know About Love) and Will (Nick Robinson, Maid) stop taking their meds, they discover that emotions could be what make life worth living. Smart, perceptive and witty.

Fox & Hare Save The Forest

Available from Sunday 9 February in Sky Cinema in demand. Cert U

Based on children’s novels by Belgian author Sylvia Vanden Heede, this is a furry adventure that should keep children spellbound. Fox and Hare live a comfortable life in the forest, until their pal Owl disappears and they discover that a lake is threatening to overflow right into their home. The duo must embark on an adventure to save their friend and their home, in a charmingly animated movie about the power of friendship.

The Garfield Movie

Available from Friday 14 February in Sky Cinema in demand. Cert U

It doesn’t get more relatable than “hates Mondays, loves lasagne”, right? The cartoon cat synonymous with those feelings is back on screen, voiced by Chris Pratt, who’s evidently now the go-to guy for lovable animated heroes after two Lego Movies and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father Vic (Samuel L Jackson), Garfield and his canine friend Odie find themselves catapulted from their comfortable indoor lives on a wild adventure in a colourful family flick.

Fight Or Flight

Available in February in Sky Cinema in demand. Cert TBC

Nineties heartthrob Josh Hartnett made an impressive comeback with Oppenheimer and Trap and now he’s starring in this entertaining, tongue-in-cheek action movie that takes place at 30,000 feet. Hartnett is Lucas Reyes, a washed-up assassin tasked with taking out a hacker on a flight – but when he realises he’s not the only killer on board, the rules of the game change. Also starring Bridgerton’s Charithra Chandran and Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff.

The Watched

Available in February in Sky Cinema in demand. Cert 15

Young artist Mina (Dakota Fanning, The Perfect Couple) is stranded in a remote forest after her car breaks down. She’s invited to shelter in a bunker, only to find that the group who live there are under the control of the mysterious Watchers. Odd occurrences begin to mount up, and the inhabitants turn on each other… This is the debut from writer/director Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of modern horror master M Night Shyamalan, who produced this slow-burning, creepily effective horror.

Rob Peace

Available in February in Sky Cinema in demand. Cert 15

British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) writes, directs and stars in this heartfelt adaptation of Jeff Hobbs’ bestselling biographical book about his college roommate. Jay Will (Tulsa King) is Rob, a young man with a promising future who must decide whether he will risk everything to free his imprisoned father (Ejiofor). Singers-turned-actors Mary J Blige (Mudbound) and Camila Cabello (Cinderella) co-star.

Thelma

Available in February in Sky Cinema in demand. Cert 12

There are unlikely action heroes, and then there’s Thelma. About Schmidt’s June Squibb takes the lead in a sort of comedic version of a Liam Neeson revenge thriller, as a grandmother conned by a phone scammer. She and her friend Ben (Shaft’s Richard Roundtree in his final role) set out on a hazardous quest across Los Angeles on a motorised scooter to find the miscreant and reclaim what was taken. A very funny film that also turns a keen eye on ageing and ageism.
