Tuck in to Saturday Night Takeaway

Tuck in to Saturday Night Takeaway

With Ant and Dec back for a new series on ITV, take a look at how they and others helped make Saturday nights entertaining again

By Virgin TV Edit

Saturday night telly has rediscovered its mojo. Maybe it’s the fact that we can’t go anywhere and we’re tuning in by our millions. Maybe its because a new wave of shows are just so blummin’ good. Maybe it’s a bit of both (the recent final of The Masked Singer drew in over 8 million viewers). Whatever it is, Saturday is now back atop its rightful throne as the week’s most epic night of TV.

And it’s about to get more epic-er. Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway is back for a brand new series, bringing you its unrivalled mix of fun, games and big celebrity names having a right laugh (often at their own expense) every week.

What do we know about the new series? Well, we know it will all be performed in front of a virtual studio audience. We also know it’ll be packed with star guests, including (takes deep breath) Harry and Jamie Redknapp, Gary Barlow, Anthony Joshua, Sir Mo Farah, Prue Leith, Alison Hammond, Bear Grylls, Rob Brydon and Jermaine Jenas.

This year, you can get even closer to the action by watching exclusive behind-the-scenes clips and interviews with Ant and Dec on the ITV Hub.

Ready for another helping of Saturday Night Takeaway? Before you loosen your belt and prepare for forkfuls of unmissable entertainment with the new series, take a look at the shows that have helped Saturday night get its sparkle back…

Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel

Contestants attempting to win big money with the help of a spinning wheel of famous faces? This newly minted Saturday night favourite has been a big hit since rolling its way onto the box at the end of 2020. Propelled by the host’s limitless energy, this is light entertainment 101.

Don’t fight it. Just admit to yourself that you love The Masked Singer. Since appearing on our screens in 2020, this talent show/guessing game mashup has got the nation talking like few other shows. With the recent finale drawing in over 8 million viewers, it’s here to stay.

Catchpoint

Don’t ask us what makes watching contestants trying to catch balls that drop from the sky so entertaining. It just is, OK? Hosted by Saturday night favourite Paddy McGuinness, this pumped-up gameshow is the kind of TV fare that we can all get behind. Or under.

Guest judges may come and go, but one fact remains: The Voice is undeniably great telly. The perfect mix of tunes, top talent and just the right amount of reality-based drama, it continues to hit all of the right notes.
