Borat is back, and he’s as weird, wonderful, moustachioed and controversial as ever…

Fourteen years on from baffling, unnerving and blowing audiences away with 2006’s Borat, Sacha Baron Cohen is resurrecting his legendary alter-ego for the aptly titled sequel, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

Oddly, too, his return couldn’t come at a better time, Cohen’s character revisiting the US to find a nation consumed by a pandemic, protests, and political unrest as one of the most contentious elections in the nation’s history looms.

The irreverent, satirical feel of the original remains at the forefront of this much-anticipated sequel, with Borat appearing at rallies and demonstrations, and even gate-crashing a speech delivered by current Vice President Mike Pence while dressed as Donald Trump.

Borat is also, once again, joined by a guest. While his right-hand man and producer Azamat’s inclusion in the sequel remains a mystery, Borat will, at least, be accompanied by his daughter for this latest (mis)adventure, chaperoning her to a debutantes ball and, at one stage, even presenting her as a gift to the aforementioned Vice President.

Intriguingly, after the original film’s (“great”) success, Cohen (as Borat) is forced to don a multitude of disguises in order to keep the now world-famous Kazakhstani character hidden from the array of real-life characters he is so brilliantly trying to shock.

As such, Cohen dons yet more bizarre faces throughout the film. But… not for the first time. For while Borat is undoubtedly his most well-known export, Cohen has amassed a vast array of roles, characters and faces throughout his near-thirty-year career.
