What better way to end 2014 than with an award win. Last month Virgin Media was recognised twice for our initiative 'Project Red to Green'; an important project aiming to increase energy efficiency at fifteen of our top energy consuming data centre sites.
At the start of December we were highly commended at The Energy Awards 2014 in the Energy Efficiency Partnership of the Year category - which rewards collaborative efforts in energy reduction. The project team were delighted to then go on to win the Improved Data Center Energy Efficiency award for EMEA at the Datacenter Dynamics Awards.
Paul Carr, our Director of Design, Build and Deployment said “This is a real testament to all our people who continue to work really hard to change the game in how we build our technical sites. We’ve saved, annually, over 8,000 tonnes of carbon and made nearly £1.4m in energy savings, demonstrating how Virgin Media’s sustainability goals align with site resilience and growth while increasing our efficiency and reducing costs”.
